Recap: BC Home and Garden Show 2016

Five days, tens of thousands of people, hundreds of products, and one great atmosphere.  The BC home and garden show proved to be another fabulous event and an awesome opportunity for us at Smart Garage to connect with happy customers, future clients and a few celebrities.

John was ready with a brochure in hand and a remote in the other to demo two of the roll-up doors.  Always service with a smile and lots of great information with our team at the show.

Shell Busey, one of Canada’s home improvement experts, stopped by the booth.  A radio and tv personality, Shell Busey, started the HouseSmart Home Services Referral Network of over 170 different trades, home services and home products available across Canada.  We proudly bear his stamp of approval and are certified Shell Busey House Smart!

Brian Minters, an old acquaintance of John’s, and the owner of the well-loved and world famous Minter Gardens, also stopped by to say hello.  Brian Minters and his wife Fay cultivated and designed a beautiful 32 acre garden in Chilliwack for 36 years before closing in 2013.  They now operate with their family the Minter Country Garden Store in Chilliwack to continue to share their expertise and passion for plants.

Not only the famous, but well loved individuals stopped by to chat with the garage door experts.  From local surgeon, Dr. Shirley, to old classmates and colleagues, many familiar faces were seen and new acquaintances were made.

The show was as much as about people was it is about products.  With so many great products under one roof, everyone was sure to go home with at least something tucked under their arm – even though a garage door may be a little big to carry out.

One of the vendors that was very impressive was Neil Magee, executive director of Arbutus furniture & closets ltd.  A local BC business that makes all kinds of furniture from Murphy beds to office seating to closets.  High quality workmanship made right here in Canada, it is worth checking out.

And that’s a wrap.  After five days of meeting, greeting and showing  off the door, it’s back to work. After a successful show, there is lots of work to be done, from quotes to measure ups to installations of roll-up doors. If you saw us at the show, give us a call.  If you missed the show, you can give us a call as well.  We will be back for the BC Home and Design show in the fall at BC place.
